In 2013, when the Tameer-e-Fikr magazine was launched, there was an outline of a number of academic subjects which involved research work from modern perspective. Apart from the main topic of the Academy i.e. compilation of scientific marvels of Qur’an and hadith, the topics which were before us were:
1- Compilation of Prophetic medicine in the light of modern science
2- Muslim scientists and their contributions
3- Islam and orientalist
Work on Prophetic Medicine is yet to start. Nevertheless, articles on the subject are being published from time to time. A series of research articles on Muslim scientists is being compiled by the honorary research fellow of the Academy Mr. Mohammad Sirajuddin and it is very well being carried out by him.
As far as the topic of ‘Islam and Orientalism’ is concerned, it was handed over to an ex-fellow of the Academy Moulvi Syed Muzzamil Nadvi. Some initial work was done in this regard in 2014-15. However, this series came to a standstill as the concerned person left to Saudi Arabia in search of livelihood for few years. It is our pleasure to announce that he has returned home now and has been re-assigned research tasks in the Academy. So we hope that the series of research on ‘Islam and orientalists’ will now move forward.
